Zenia Smith-Boyd

Founder & President

Zenia Smith-Boyd is a trailblazer in the cheerleading community, bringing over 30 years of experience as a coach, mentor, and advocate for young athletes. As the head coach at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of cheerleaders, instilling discipline, teamwork, and a passion for excellence.

Her dedication and contributions to the sport have been widely recognized. She is an IHSA official, ensuring the integrity of competitive cheerleading, and was honored as IHSA Coach of the Year for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the sport. In recognition of her lasting impact, she was also inducted into the Illinois High School Cheerleading Coaches Organization (IHSCCO) Hall of Fame, Class of ‘23.

Making history, Coach Boyd became the first and only Black woman to win an IHSA State Title in Illinois, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of cheerleaders and coaches. Her influence extends beyond the competition mat, as she continues to inspire and uplift athletes by fostering a culture of inclusivity, perseverance, and excellence in cheerleading.

With a deep commitment to the sport and the athletes she coaches, Zenia Smith-Boyd remains a powerful force in the cheerleading world, dedicated to expanding opportunities and ensuring that every athlete has the chance to reach their full potential.

Elayne is a dedicated and inspiring cheerleading coach with over 10 years of experience empowering young athletes to achieve their fullest potential. Known for her dynamic leadership and motivational coaching style, Elayne has cultivated a reputation for fostering both athletic excellence and personal growth.

Her passion goes beyond perfecting routines — she instills a championship mindset, encouraging her teams to approach challenges with confidence

Our Story

Boss Nation Cheer (BNC) is built on a 25+ year legacy of mentorship between  Coach Zenia Boyd, A lifelong cheerleader since age nine and now a dedicated high school educator, Coach Boyd has inspired generations of athletes—including Coach Elayne, her former athlete and now business partner. United, by a shared passion for giving back, they founded BNC to uplift young girls and boys through the transformative power of cheerleading.

At BNC, cheer is more than a sport—it’s a vehicle for leadership, growth, and community. The program teaches essential life values: love others work hard, stay disciplined, and grow in a safe, peaceful environment. Through perseverance, confidence, respect, and clear communication, girls learn to resolve conflict and navigate challenges with confidence and grace.

BNC is a nurturing cycle of empowerment, where movement builds strength, spirit fuels growth, and every girl is seen, supported, and equipped to thrive—both on the mat and in life.
